Celebrating International Men’s Day at Castle Rock
International Men’s Day - celebrated this year on Tuesday, 19th November - is an occasion for raising awareness of the many challenges men face in society. To mark this significant day, which focused on the theme of ‘Positive Male Role Models’, staff at Castle Rock were invited to nominate an iconic male figure who inspired them and related to their specific subject.
The French faculty nominated footballer Kylian Mbappé, while other figures celebrated included Sir David Attenborough, Dr Aaron Beck, Benjamin Zephaniah, Sir Grayson Perry, Reed Hastings, Ncuti Gatwa, and Sir Chris Hoy.
On International Men’s Day itself, our Deputy Headteacher, Mr Acton, was interviewed live on BBC Radio Leicester. Speaking with presenter Summaya Mughal, he outlined our initiative for the day and shared his own inspirational male role model: Mark Cuban, the American businessman and Shark Tank star.
“He’s used a lot of his billions to set up cost-price medical care in America. Obviously, they have a significant issue with healthcare costs, and he’s working to provide affordable diabetes medication and similar treatments for those in need.”
What an inspirational and memorable day!
