James Martindale

James Martindale’s journey through Castle Rock Sixth Form was about more than just studying - it was about building the confidence to try new things and develop skills that have shaped his career as a Police Officer today. Studying Sociology, PE, and Science, James gained a strong foundation for his future.

After Sixth Form, James went on to study a three-year degree in Policing at De Montfort University, where he graduated with first-class honours.

“Even as a football-playing lad, I loved the chance to try something different,” James says. “Being one of the lead characters in Les Misérables and helping with technical theatre outside of lessons helped me find my voice and gave me the confidence to push my limits—something I rely on every day as a police officer.”

James credits the supportive environment at Castle Rock for helping him discover his potential. “The encouragement from teachers to try new things and step outside my comfort zone made all the difference,” he shares. “It’s where I started to build the resilience and determination that have carried me through my career.”

Now a Dedicated Neighbourhood Police Officer, James applies the skills he built at Castle Rock every day in his role, serving the community and making a positive impact. His story is a great example of how Castle Rock Sixth Form equips students with the tools and confidence they need to succeed, no matter their path.
