Oliver Springthorpe

From Castle Rock School to Premier IT Technician: For Oliver, Castle Rock School played a key role in shaping his future. His love for subjects like Geography, Maths, and IT naturally paved the way for a career in financial software, but it was the support of his teachers that made the biggest difference.

“The school, and particularly my teachers, helped me believe in myself and gave me the encouragement I needed to keep going.” Oliver shares.

Shortly after finishing Sixth Form, Oliver secured an apprenticeship as a Finance Software Technician with The Access Group, a global leader in software solutions. The apprenticeship allowed him to combine his strengths in Maths and IT with real-world experience.

“The role has been an incredible opportunity to develop my social skills and grow professionally.”

Today, Oliver works as a Premier IT Technician, supporting high-profile clients and maintaining databases. His role involves a lot of communication—he makes up to 40 phone calls a week!

Looking ahead, Oliver hopes to move into a more technical role focused on coding or data analysis, two areas he’s passionate about. One of his proudest professional achievements so far is being recognised as the Most Improved Technician in his division for the financial year. A quote that has stuck by Oliver is "Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside of that is greater than any obstacle" - Christian D Larson

Reflecting on his journey, Oliver credits Castle Rock School with giving him the foundation and self-belief to thrive. “The support I received from my teachers was invaluable,” he says. “They helped me navigate tough times and build the skills I needed to succeed.”
